With over 580 species of resident and migratory birds, Belize has rapidly become a primary birding destination for bird watchers of all ages. Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge offers some of the best bird watching in Belize right at its windowsill.
The Lodge’s location into the foothills of the Sibun National Forest Reserve provides a rich natural environment for numerous species of birds. The Lodge offers a morning bird watching tour that begins at dawn and runs through to around 7:30 am. This is the period of time when the birds are most active.
Variety of birds can be seen as we move from the river side to the transition zones and into the jungle. Some of these birds include Orange Breasted Falcon, keel-billed Toucan (National Bird of Belize), Blue-crowned Mot-Mot, Violaceous Trogan, Grey-necked Wood-Rail, Collared Forest Falcon, and a host of other exotic bird species.
