The fascinating Garifuna village of Hopkins, is located just one mile north of Jaguar Reef Lodge & Spa, Almond Beach Resort & Spa and Villa Margarita. It is eight miles south of Dangriga and four miles off the Southern Highway.

Hopkins Village is a quaint, traditional fishing village, which was established in the 19th century.

The village is surrounded by the misty-green Maya Mountains, the Cockscomb Range inland, and the blue Caribbean Sea on its shore. It is the perfect base for visitors to explore major Belize attractions such as, The Belize Barrier Reef, Cockscomb Basin Wild Life Sanctuary, Mayflower National Park, Whale Sharks at Gladden Spit, Biolumenscent at Andersons Lagoon and Cultural Display of the Garinagu.

Today Hopkins Village is a small but vibrant community of approximately 1,500 villagers. The people live mostly by fishing and recently, many have found work in the growing hotel industry. The residents are known for their friendliness and genuine hospitality, and are very welcoming to visitors.
